Thursday - Travel Day back to KC

The early morning brought a flurry of last minute packing and getting the girls loaded up so Drake can drive them to DIA for their flight home. Logan and Grandpa closed up the VRBO and finished packing before departing about 1/2 hour behind the gang.  Janie called to let us know Parker threw up in route and Sarah was getting car sick.  Tough way to end the day. David text that Christa was still sick and he hurt his calf skiing Aspen.  Rough day for all. Janie got home to the house not being Breck proof and Jeff/Logan got home by 6:30 to Logan's, then Drake's and home by 7:45.

Wednesday - Final Ski Day

Image
Typical start to the day with everyone waking to a new day.  Aches and pains, sleepy eyes and the granddaughters all full of energy.  Logan was having intestinal issues, but rallied to head to the slopes with Grandpa.  They met up with David.  He and Logan eventually split off to conquer blacks, while Grandpa caught up with Sarah and Drake late to the mountain on the way down to American Flyer.  Snow was still pretty heavy as most runs were not groomed overnight. It snowed a little bit more and not many runs were groomed, so skiing was still tough to navigate bumps and snow hills.  Overcast start made it still hard to see the terrain and Sarah struggled.  After a few runs she headed back to the VRBO and ironically Janie texted she was sick.  Then we learned Christa was sick and so the day became a little less fun for the three amigos (Janie, Logan and Christa). Lift had a bubble shield Drake and Dad did some good runs and video taped a jump and th...

Tuesday - Ski Day

Image
Grandpa got up and cleared the 5+ inches of snow off the truck and headed to Frisco to pickup Uncle David.  With Christa working and they switching locations to ski Aspen the rest of the week it worked out to get David so she could pick up later.  Despite the snow coming down, 4 miles towards Frisco and the snow stopped and sun came out.  The mountains are amazing on weather patterns. New snow overnight - snowed all day - 5" base and over 10" top of mountain by 4:00 a.m. Ice Sickles from roof everywhere! Slow start, but David and Logan got off to the shuttle by 8:45 a.m.  Fresh powder day for sure.  Drake/Sarah and Grandpa headed out at 9:45 and took the shuttle to east village.  On to Super Bee chair to the top with snow and visibility not so good.  The wind was really picking up as well, making the last part of the chair ride nippy.  Sarah made it down the long run, but it took its toll as well as on Grandpa navigating such thick snow.  Ano...

Monday - A-Basin - Day off

Image
The plan with Christa working for a day off from skiing and hanging with Parker and Palmer.  Uncle David swung by and picked up Logan for a day trip to A-Basin.   Sarah and Grandma took Parker out for another ski outing.  She is going to ready for the mountains next year for sure!! Grandma, Grandpa, Sarah, Drake, Parker and Palmer after morning nap time bundled up took the shuttle to the center village to explore shops and eat pizza for lunch at the Sawmill Pizza. Parker enjoyed digging into her pizza The pizza is really good Parker waiting for the shuttle They were able to park right up by the lift and had a great blue bird morning and overall fun trip.  A little icy, but they found fun tree runs and battled a lot of double diamond blacks. Nap time for everyone after we got back and resting up for the dinner.  Dave and Donna came over after David, Logan and Christa piled in.  Great taco dinner and fun with the granddaughters.   Uncle Logan h...

Sunday - Ski Day - Grandma Grandaughter Day

Image
Sunday morning started with Grandpa making coffee and putting in the egg casserole.  Then Parker saying hi from the top of the stairs.  Breakfast for everyone before making lunch burritos and getting ready. Logan and Jeff headed out first using the free shuttle.  Uber like interface that made it really easy as the driver auto text as approached pickup was helpful.  The two dropped at the West Village to ski the right side of the mountain.  The two hooked up with Drake, Sarah, David and Christa a little later.  Another spring blue bird day of skiing with the lift lines really not that bad for a weekend.  Sarah quickly got her ski technique going after a 2 year hiatus being pregnant. Like always great views from all vantage points and look at that ski! As lunch time approached, we found a great "Cocktail" spot and hung out enjoying the beautiful day.  Glizzy Dave enjoyed his brats while everyone else enjoyed their burritos and mid-day beverage. This...

Saturday - March 1 - Girls Travel - Boys Ski

Image
5:30 a.m. departure to the mountains with no real traffic got Drake, Logan and Jeff to Dillon by 6:45.  Einstein Bagels for coffee and sandwiches before heading to the Copper parking lot.  What a great blue bird spring skiing day.  Spent the day on the left side of the mountain with David and Christa catching up about mid-morning.  Lunch break at Aerie Lodge outside in the sun was just almost like being on the beach. View from Aerie Logan showing his guns - yes its March 1 Drake's cocktail - Bloody Mary David brought his Live a Great Story Flag! Afternoon skiing found everyone getting tired and poor Christa bit the snow on Rosie's black run when her binding popped off.  That pretty much ended the day for everyone, but what a great day of skiing!! After skiing and trekking back to the parking lot, Grandpa/Logan/Drake got the condo open and truck unloaded just before the girls arrived from Denver.  They had an easy flight with Parker and Palmer being seasoned...
